Sometimes you just have to take advantage of being on the road and make a detour. This is how we briefly ended up in Kapunda looking at this really big statue. We were on the way home from a wedding in a nearby town and my husband decided to detour here to show me “Map the Miner” as I hadn’t been before. I think it may be known by a couple of other names too. Kapunda, in South Australia, historically began as a mining town. Therefore this statue is a fitting tribute. I’ve jumped in the photo to help add some scale to the size – it is approx 8m tall.
Have you been to Kapunda? Maybe add it as a stop on your next South Australian road trip!
